HOW-TO: Install Apache2 Web Server on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Installing Apache2 Web Server on Ubuntu is a very easy and pretty straight forward process. Once you are logged on to your Ubuntu instance, launch Terminal if in GUI or just issue the command (without GUI):

sudo apt-get install apache2

Enter your password

Verify the packages that will be installed, then type y for yes and press Enter

Thats it! If you don’t encounter any errors, you are basically done. Browse to your server’s IP address, you should see Apache’s default page

By default, Apache reads files from /var/www/html/. In order to change the default page, you need to remove/move/backup/overwrite the default index.html file /var/www/html/index.html with your own.
